WEEK 1: WHOLE NUMBER

  • Identification and reading number of object 1-5

LESSON OBJECTIVES:

At the end of the lesson, Pupils should be able to:

  • Identify number of objects 1 -5
  • Read number of object 1 -5

  • Counter: beans, bottle tops, button and stones.

WEEK 2: Sorting and Classification of Objects on Numbers 1 -5

TEACHERS’S ACTIVITIES:

At the end of the lesson, Pupils should be able to:

  • Sort out different objects into groups of similar objects.
  • Classify different objects. E.g. books, pencils, sticks, seeds, bottle tops.

WEEK 3: Ordering and Writing Of Numbers 1 – 5 and 5 – 1

  • Arrange the numbers in order of their magnitude.
  • Write the number in order in their books.

  • Counters: seeds, bottles covers, paper bags and other containers

WEEK 4:  Introducing Zero (0) As a Number

LESSON OBJECTIVES:

At the end of the lesson, Pupils should be able to:

  • Recognize  the symbol  0
  • Identify set or group of 5 numbers.
  • Reduce by one until all numbers disappear.
  • Make correct statement about zero as no number or empty or nothingness.

  • Stones

  • Bottles
  • Song on 5 green bottles standing on the wall.

WEEK 5:  Identification of Reading of Number 6 -9 And 9 -6

    LESSON OBJECTIVES:

At the end of the lesson, Pupils should be able to:

  • Identify numbers 6 -9
  • Read numbers 6 -9 and 9 –  6
  • Sort out numbers  6 – 9 from group or set
  • Arrange numbers 6 -9 in other of magnitude.

WEEK 6: Whole Number 10

    LESSON OBJECTIVES:

At the end of the lesson, Pupils should be able to:

  • Identify 10 as Tens and 1 – 9 as units.

  • Counters: bottle top, button, balls, fingers and toes.

WEEK 7:  Counting, Reading and Writing of Numbers 1- 50

    LESSON OBJECTIVES:

At the end of the lesson, Pupils should be able to:

  • Identify numbers 1 -50
  • Read and write numbers 1 – 50
  • Relate the counting of  1 -9  to 1 -50
  • Count and write numbers 50 – 1

  • Flash cards of  numbers
  • Number chat

WEEK 9:  Fractions

  • Identification of fractions (1/2 and ¼ ) with the use of concrete objects and shape

    LESSON OBJECTIVES:

At the end of the lesson, Pupils should be able to:

  • Identify fraction as number.
  • Divide an objects e.g. orange into two equal parts.
  • Identify half, one quarter of an object. i.e. (half or quarter)

  • Oranges

  • Paper cutting in shapes: squares, rectangle, circle.

WEEK 10:  Matching Of Fraction with Concrete Objects

    LESSON OBJECTIVES:

At the end of the lesson, Pupils should be able to:

  • Recognize fraction of ½.
  • Recognize fraction  of ¼
  • Match fraction ½ and ½ and ¼ with correct divided objects.

TEACHING/LEARNING RESOURCES/AIDS:

  • Cardboard
  • Cut into ½  and ¼
  • Charts contain diagrams

WEEK 11:  Objects and Shapes

    LESSON OBJECTIVES:

At the end of the lesson, Pupils should be able to:

  • Cut an orange, paper, apples, into two equal halves and into 4 equally.

  • Apples
  • Oranges

  • Pizza

WEEK 11:   REVISION OF THE TERM’S WORK

WEEK 12:   EXAMINATION AND COLLATION OF ASSESSMENT
