DEFINITION OF SAFETY

Safety is when there is no possible danger or harm around us. That is Safety are rules or things put in place to avoid injury or accidents in our schools, workshop and our homes

CAUSES OF ACCIDENT

What is accident? Accidents are the events that make us get injured. Accident are caused by not obeying safety rules.

Causes of accidents are:

  1. Stepping on sharp object like nail, broken bottle etc.
  2. Use of laboratory Machine without necessary guide
  3. Unsafe working condition like working without safety tools.
  4. Unsafe practice by workshop users
  5. Dropping of Banana peel on the floor
  6. Lifting heavy load
  7. Jumping a high fence
  8. Playing with lighted stove, gas, candle
  9. Playing with sharp objects like knife, scissor
  10. Careless with hot water

OBJECT THAT CAUSES ACCIDENT

  • KNIFE
  • SCISSORS
  • NAIL
  • BOTTLE
  • BLADE
  • ELECTRIC IRON
  • NEEDLE

PREVENTION OF ACCIDENT

  1. Keep our environment clean and tidy
  2. Keep sharp tools in a safe place
  3. Put on laboratory coat  when necessary
  4. Avoid keeping sharp tools like blade, needle in your pocket.
  5. Do not run  around with sharp objects in your hand
  6. Report  injury immediately
  7. By being careful
  8. By not being too playful

SOME SAFETY DEVICES

Safety devices are materials use when working to protect ourselves from accident. Some of the safety devices are:

  • Gloves
  • Caps
  • Apron
  • Helmets
  • Boots
  • Nose masks
  • Laboratory coats
  • Eye goggles
  • Fire extinguishers
  • Sand bucket
