WEEK 1: REVISION OF FIRST TERMS WORKS

LESSON OBJECTIVES:

At the end of the lesson, Pupils should be able to:

• Recall what has been taught and write them correctly.
• Counting and writing of number  1- 50 and 50 -1, 51 – 100 and 100 – 51

• Charts containing number reading  from 1 -50
• 100 square chart

WEEK 2:  Addition of Whole Numbers with Sum Less Than 5

TEACHERS’S ACTIVITIES:

At the end of the lesson, Pupils should be able to:

• Add two whole numbers from 1 to 3 with sum less than 5.
• Recognize the symbol”+” and say what it means and what it stands for.

e.g 1+1 =2, 2 + 1 =3

WEEK 3: Addition of Whole Number with Sum Less Than 10

LESSON OBJECTIVES:

At the end of the lesson, Pupils should be able to:

• Add any two or three numbers from 0 to 9 with the aid of objects for counting.
• Add two or three whole numbers from 1 to 8 with sum less than 10.

WEEK 4:  Addition of Whole Numbers with Sum Less Than 20

LESSON OBJECTIVES:

At the end of the lesson, Pupils should be able to:

• Add any two or three numbers with sum from 11 to 19.
• Use the various ways of forming 3, 6 and 9 to solve addition of sums mentally
• Solve addition in vertical order.

WEEK 5:  Addition of Items of 2 – Digit Whole Numbers with Sum Not Greater Than 40.

LESSON OBJECTIVES:

At the end of the lesson, Pupils should be able to:

• Add 2 – digit whole numbers with sum not greater than 40.
• Combine two groups of 2 –digit numbers less than 40 and count the total.

WEEK 6: subtraction

• Subtraction of whole numbers not greater than 9

LESSON OBJECTIVES:

At the end of the lesson, Pupils should be able to:

• Subtract from whole numbers not greater than 9

e.g. 5 -3, 4 -1, 7 – 4, etc.

WEEK 10:  Addition of Two – Digit Numbers Without Regrouping

LESSON OBJECTIVES:

At the end of the lesson, Pupils should be able to:

• Add two – digit numbers without grouping.

e.g.

1.  40 + 9 = ?
2. 97 = 90 + ?
3. 58 = 50 + ?

WEEK 11:  Addition and Subtraction on Number Line.

LESSON OBJECTIVES:

At the end of the lesson, Pupils should be able to:

3. Identify the counting of numbers forwards and backward using the arrows. E.g.

Backward (->) = (subtraction)
