Religion is the way man communicate with God.

RELIGION IN NIGERIA

We have three recognize religion in Nigeria

1. Christianity
2. Islamic religion
3. Traditional religion

MEANING OF RELIGIOUS INTOLERANCE

Religion intolerance is when people who practice a particular religion refuse to recognize and respect other people’s religion or believe. They see their own religion as the only true religion while every other person’s religion is not important. These people are called religious fanatics

PROBLEMS OF RELIGIOUS INTOLERANCE

1. Unfriendly relations with other people who practice other religion.
2. Riots
3. Destruction of life and properties.
4. Reduction in economic activities.
5. Reduction in people’s income.
6. It causes hatred among people.

RELEVANT VALUES TO RELIGIOUS DIFFERENCES

1. Tolerance
2. Respect
3. Understanding unity
4. Peace
5. Cooperation
6. Settlement

CONTROL OF RELIGIOUS INTOLERANCE EDUCATION ON TOLERATING HUMAN RIGHT

1. Nigeria should remain a secular state.
2. Proscription of fanatical group’s i.e. they should be taken to the court.
3. Religious bodies to pay compensation for damages done by their members.
4. Police should intervene against fanatics.

ROLES OF RELIGIOUS BODIES IN DEVELOPMENT
