CONTENT OF THE LESSON
MEANING OF A NATION
A Nation is an organized body of people under a single government. It is the people who live in a country. Nigeria have 36 states with Abuja as the federal capital territory. We shave 250 ethnic groups in Nigeria.
Nigeria is divided into six political zones. These are
- North West: it is made of of seven states. The stastes are Kano, kebi, sokoto, zamfara, kaduna, katsina, jigawa.
- North East: it is made up of six (6) states. These are Bauchi, Bornu, Gombe, yobe, Adamawa, Taraba.
- South – south: it is made up of six (6) states. These are Akwa ibom, rivers, cross river, Delta, Bayelsa, Edo.
- South – west: it is made up of six (6) states. These are Lagos, oyo, Osun, Ogun, Ekiti, Ondo.
- North central: it is made up of six (6) states. These are NAsarawa, Kwara, Niger, Kogi, Benue, and Plateau.
- South – East: it is made up of five (5) states. These are Ebonyi, Abia, Anambra, Enugu, and Imo.

REASONS FOR BUILDING OUR NATION
The Reason for building a nation are as follows:
- For peaceful co-existence
- To benefit from one another
- Common use of resources
- United against external aggression
