FIRST TERM SCIENCE CURRICULUM

Week 1 & 2

Topic:                    Living  and  non living things

Objective:           At end of the lesson pupil should be able to name examples of living things beginning with his/herself.

Lesson 2

Material :            The pupils in class, charts and video clips on living things

Activity:               Teacher should teach living and non living things  in a way that the pupil will group what is            being taught a dog is a living thing because it can run a chair is not a living thing because it can not run.

Evaluation:         Pupil should say what they understand about living and non living thing

Week 3 & 4

Topic:                    Things need by living things

(food, water and air)

Objective:           At the end o the lesson pupil should be able to state the basic need of all living things which is food water air and shelter.    

Lesson 2 lesson

Materials:           Pupil in class

Activity:               Teacher should teach the pupil the basic things that a living thing needs

Evaluation:         Mention the things needed by living things

Week  5 & 6

Topic:                    Things living things can do end non-living things cannot do i.e characteristics of living and non-living things.

Objective:           At the end of the lesson, pupil should be able to state the characteristics of living things

Lesson: 2             Lesson

Materials:           Non-Living things around the class

                                Video clips on living things

                                The School poultry if any

Activity:               Teacher should make pupil carryout certain action that the table and chairs- the  class cannot carry out e.g shooting, jumping running around, breathing in and out etc.

Evaluation:         State 4 things living things can do.

Week 7 & 8

Topic:                    Animal and their babies

Objectives:         At the end of the lesson, pupil should be able to state the name of an animal and that of its baby e.g Dog- puppy cat-kitchen

Lesson                  2 lesson

Materials:           Chart on animals and their babies

Activity:               Teacher should teach the name of the animals and that of their babies

Evaluation:         State the name of the animals in the picture /list etc.

Week 9 & 10

Topic:                    Animals end their homes

Objective:           At the end of the lesson pupil should be able to tell where an animal lives and what it is called e.g. Dog – kennel, horse-stable

Lesson:                 2 lesson

Materials:           Chart on animal and their homes and wipe clean books on animals and their homes

Activity:               As in week 7 and 8 but relevant to animals and their home

Evaluation:         As in week 7 and 8 but relevant to the is topic.

Week 11              Revision, test, examination, closing
