SUB- THEME: BASIC MOVEMENT

WEEK 1

TOPIC: Moving our body part.

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVE: Pupils should be able to: demonstrates correct movement patterns of leaping, walking, stepping, hopping and running etc.

CONTENT: Leaping, walking, steeping, hopping and running etc.

TEACHER ACTIVITIES:

  1. Practice the techniques of leaping, walking and running.
  2.  Demonstrates the techniques in locomotor movement.
  3. Supervises the pupils and offers assistance.

PUPILS ACTIVITIES:

1. Practice the techniques ofleaping, walking and running.

TEACHING AND LEARNING MATERIALS: Playground balls etc.

EVALUATION GUIDE: Pupils to: demonstrates basic movement skills correctly.

WEEK 2

TOPIC: Basic manipulative movement.

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVE: Pupils should be able to: perform basic manipulative movement.

CONTENT:

Throwing of objects,

catching of objects,

kicking of objects,

striking of objects.

TEACHER ACTIVITIES:

1. Demonstrates that basic manipulative movements, supervises the children and offers assistance.

2. Demonstrates the non-locomotoer movement,supervises the children and offer assistance.

PUPILS ACTIVITIES:

1. Practice manipulative patterns of throwing, catching in pairs,

2. Practice non- locomotor movement.

TEACHING AND LEARNING MATERIALS: Playground balls etc.

EVALUATION GUIDE: Pupils to: perform basic manipulative movement correctly.

WEEK 3

TOPIC: Safety rules in basic movement.

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVE:  Pupils should be able to: identify safety rules in walking, running, pushing and kicking etc.

CONTENT:  Safety rules.

TEACHER ACTIVITIES: List safety rules in basic movement.

PUPILS ACTIVITIES:

TEACHING AND LEARNING MATERIALS: Playground

EVALUATION GUIDE: Pupils to: state safety rules on the

playground.

 

WEEK 4

TOPIC: Practical exercise

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVE: Pupils should be able to: practice basic manipulative

movements.

CONTENT: Exercise on basic manipulative movements.

 

TEACHER ACTIVITIES:

1. Demonstrates and supervises pupils.

PUPILS ACTIVITIES: Practice and perform basic manipulative movement.

WEEK 5

TOPIC: Dangers in basic movement

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVE: Pupils should be able to: state the dangers in basic movement.

CONTENT: Dangers in basic movement.

TEACHER ACTIVITIES: List dangers in basic movements

PUPILS ACTIVITIES:

TEACHING AND LEARNING MATERIALS:  Text.

EVALUATION GUIDE: Pupils to: state the dangers in basic movement.

WEEK 6

TOPIC: Athletics I

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVE: Pupils should be able to: perform simple athletic activities.

CONTENT: Short distances race e.g. 50 meters.

TEACHER ACTIVITIES:

`1. Demonstrates the events e.g. 50 meters (start from and finish) jumping (run-up take off, flight and landing).

PUPILS ACTIVITIES:

1. Observes the teachers demonstration in running (start from and finish jumping, running (run-up, take off, flight and landing).

TEACHING AND LEARNING MATERIALS:

1. Playground

2. Cross-bar.

EVALUATION GUIDE: Pupils to:

1. perform simple athletic activities such as running, jumping etc.

2. perform 50 meters dash showing start from and finish.

WEEK 7

TOPIC: Athletics II

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVE: Pupils should be able to: perform simple jumps.

CONTENT: Simple jump

TEACHER ACTIVITIES: Supervises and corrects practice by pupils.

PUPILS ACTIVITIES: Practice the event.

TEACHING AND LEARNING MATERIALS:

1. Cross-bar

2. Up right poles.

3. Landing pit

EVALUATION GUIDE: Pupils to: demonstrate basic high jump skills.

– Run-up

– Take off

– Flight

– Landing.

WEEK 8

TOPIC: Health benefits of simple jumps.

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVE: Pupils should be able to: state the health benefits of simple jumps.

CONTENT: Benefits of simple jumps.

TEACHER ACTIVITIES: Explains the health benefits of simple jumps.

PUPILS ACTIVITIES: Mention the health benefits of simple jumps.

TEACHING AND LEARNING MATERIALS:

EVALUATION GUIDE: Pupils to: state the health benefit of simple jumps.

WEEK 9

TOPIC: Safety rules of simple jumps.

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVE: Pupils should be able to: state safety rules in running, jumping and the throwing etc.

CONTENT:  Safety rules in athletics.

TEACHER ACTIVITIES: Explains safety rules.

PUPILS ACTIVITIES: Mention safety rules.

TEACHING AND LEARNING MATERIALS: Playground.

EVALUATION GUIDE: Pupils to: state safety rules on short distances race (50meters dash and simple jump).

WEEK 10

TOPIC:  PRACTICAL EXERCISE

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVE:

CONTENT: Short distance race.

2. Simple jumps.

 

 

TEACHER ACTIVITIES: Teacher guides pupils on short distance race.

PUPILS ACTIVITIES:

TEACHING AND LEARNING MATERIALS:   Playground

 

EVALUATION GUIDE: Pupils to: practice the event of:

1. simple jumps.

2. short distances race e.g. 5o meter.

WEEK 11: REVISION

WEEK 12:  EXAMINATION
