WEEK 1

TOPIC: Energy

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVE: Pupils should be able to:

1. explain the meaning of energy.

2.lists the different forms of energy.

CONTENT:

  1. Meaning of energy.
  2. Forms of energy
    1. Light energy
    1. Sound energy.
    1. Electrical energy etc.

TEACHER ACTIVITIES:

1.Leads pupils to know the meaning of energy.

2.Leads them to know the different forms of energy.

PUPILS ACTIVITIES:

1.Defines energy as the ability to do work.

2.List the forms of energy.

TEACHING AND LEARNING MATERIALS:        

Textbooks.

EVALUATION GUIDE : Pupils to:

1.state the meaning of energy.

WEEK 2

TOPIC: Things that Use Energy

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVE: Pupils should be able to:

  1. state three things that use energy.
  2. perform activities involving the use of energy.

CONTENT: Examples of things that use energy.

TEACHER ACTIVITIES:

  1. Guides pupils to identify themselves using energy to move, write, jump, run, lift objects.
  2. Guides pupils using posters to identify objects around them where energy is used e.g. grinding with mortar, pounding with pestle, riding a bicycle etc.

PUPILS ACTIVITIES:

  1. Perform simple activities showing the use of energy such as walking, running jumping, etc.
  2. Identify from charts and posters objects that show the use of energy.

TEACHING AND LEARNING MATERIALS:

  1. Pupils in the classroom.
  2. Desk and chairs.
  3. Posters and chart.

EVALUATION GUIDE : Pupils to:

  1. perform an action to show the use of energy.
  2. list any three things that use energy to work.

WEEK 3

TOPIC: Light Energy

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVE: Pupils should be able to:

explains the meaning of light energy.

CONTENT: Meaning of light energy.

TEACHER  ACTIVITIES:

Guides pupils to know the meaning of light energy.

PUPILS ACTIVITIES:

Listen to their teacher attentively.

WEEK 4

TOPIC: Source Of Light Energy

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVE: Pupils should be able to: state five sources of light energy.

CONTENT: Sources of light energy.

  1. Candle
  2. Torch
  3. Electric bulb
  4. Kerosene lamp
  5. Sun etc.

TEACHER ACTIVITIES:

Tells pupils the sources of light energy.

PUPILS ACTIVITIES:

States the sources of light energy.

  1. Electric bulb.
  2. Candle
  3. Torch.
  4. Matches.
  5. Kerosene lamp.

TOPIC: Uses of Light Energy

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVE: Pupils should be able to: list three uses of light energy.

CONTENT: 1. Uses of light energy.

  • To see objects
  • For traffic control
  • For photography.
  • To see images clearly on the television.

TEACHER ACTIVITIES:  

Leads pupils to know the uses of light as a form of energy.

PUPILS ACTIVITIES:

Identify the uses of light energy as a form of energy.

WEEK 6

TOPIC: Sound Energy

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVE: Pupils should be able to: explains the meaning of sound energy.

Leads them to know the meaning of sound energy.

PUPILS ACTIVITIES: Say what sound energy means.

Pupils should able to: name four things which make sound.

  3. Train etc.

TOPIC: Things that Produce Sound

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVE: Pupils should be able to: name four things that produce sound.

CONTENT: Things that produce sound e.g. drum, violin, piano, guitar etc.

TEACHER ACTIVITIES: Leads pupils to identify things that produce sound.

PUPILS ACTIVITIES: Identify things that produce sound.

TEACHING AND LEARNING MATERIALS: Pictures of drum, violin, piano, whistle etc.

EVALUATION GUIDE: Pupils to: name four things that produce sound.

WEEK 9

TOPIC: Local Instrument that Produce Sound.

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVE: Pupils should be able to: state three local instruments that produce sound.

CONTENT: 1. Local instrument that produce sound e.g. talking drum, flutes bamboo stem, agogo, gong etc

TEACHER ACTIVITIES: Leads pupils to identify local instruments that produce sound using a chart.

PUPILS ACTIVITIES: Identify local instruments that produce sounds from a chart.

TEACHING AND LEARNING MATERIALS:

  1. Bamboo stem
  2. Flute
  3. Chart showing

other local instrument that produce sound.

EVALUATION GUIDE :

Pupils to: state three local instrument that produce sound.

WEEK 10

TOPIC: Generating Energy

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVE: Pupils should be able to: explains how energy can be generated.

CONTENT: How to generate energy.

TEACHER ACTIVITIES:

  1. Leads pupils to strike two stones together.
  2. Leads them to rub their palms to generate heat energy.

PUPILS ACTIVITIES:

  1. Strike two stones together to generate light energy.
  2. Rub their palm together.

TEACHING AND LEARNING MATERIALS:

  1. Stones.
  2. Palm.
  3. Textbook.

EVALUATION GUIDE :

Pupils  to: states two ways you can generate energy.

WEEK 11: REVISION

WEEK 12: EXAMINATION
