Types of poetry
Language of Poetry
i. Narrative poem
—The teacher should identify each of these poems and the language used in each of them.
—The teacher should also identify the theme of each of the poems.
–Types (Comedy and Tragedy)
–Features of drama: Theme, stage costumes etc.
Reading of the recommended drama texts.
–Identifying the message of the text.
–Roles of the characters (minor and major)
i. Reading and explanation of the recommended prose text(s)
ii. Identifying the type of prose
iii. Discuss the features of the prose text: Plot, characterisation, style, setting, language and theme
Reading of drama text (short play)
–Identify the essential language features of the play
–Identify the major character(s)
–Act out the play
–Identify irony in literature text
–Construction of correct sentences with irony.
Figures of speech (Hyperbole)
–Identification of hyperbole in literature text
–Construction of correct sentences with hyperbole
