VARIOUS WAYS OF SELECTING MARRIAGE PARTNER

The following are general ways of selecting a life partner.

  1. Through recommendation.
  2. Through parent consent.
  3. Sending of relatives to speak to the girl they want to marry.
  4. Sending of friend to talk to the girl.
  5. Through school, place of work, parties.

PREPARATION FOR MARRIAGE

Before marriage is take place, the man, lady and parent have to do the following:

  1. Seeking advice from matured people
  2. Dating/courtship
  3.  Family investigation
  4. Know about the behavior of partners
  5. Engagement
  6. Visit to the lady and man families
  7. Submission of marriage gift.
  8. Payment of diary
  9. Marriage date will be fixed

RELEVANT VALUE IN SELECTING A MARRIAGE PARTNER

  1. Affection
  2. Trust
  3. Honesty
  4. Tolerance

THE ROLES OF FAMILIES AND PARENT IN MARRIAGE

  1.  Advice the daughter on how take care of herself.
  2. Parent teach their son on how to be a good husband and behave well.
  3. Advice the couples
  4. Encourage the partners
  5. Get useful information about the spouse.
  6. They contribute in one way or the order in organizing the marriage.

UNHEALTHY MARRIAGE PRACTICES

  1. Early marriage
  2. Same sex marriage
  3. Trial marriage
  4. Elopement marriage
  5. Wife swapping
  6. Wife inheritance
  7. Forced marriage
