WEEK 1

TOPIC: Sound Energy

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVE:

Pupils should be able to:

1.explains the meaning of sound energy.

2.identify different sounds.                                                                                    

CONTENT: What is sound energy?

TEACHER ACTIVITIES: Explains the meaning of sound energy.

PUPILS ACTIVITIES: Participates in class discussion.

TEACHING AND LEARNING RESOURCE: Charts showing musical instrument

EVALUATION GUIDE:  Pupils to:

1.say the meaning of sound energy.

2.identify different sounds.

WEEK 2

TOPIC: Modern Instrument that Produce Sounds

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVE: Pupils should be able to: name modern instrument that produce sounds.                                                                                                                     

CONTENT: Modern instruments that produce sounds e.g.

–              Piano

–              Jazz band.

–              Microphone etc.

TEACHER ACTIVITIES: Discusses sound and leads pupils to identify sounds.

PUPILS ACTIVITIES:

1.Participates in class discussion.

2.Make sounds with different paths of their body (e.g. Feet, hands, mouth)

3.Identify the modern instruments that produce sounds.

TEACHING AND LEARNING RESOURCE:

Charts showing some musical instrument.

EVALUATION GUIDE: Pupils to:

list three modern instruments that produce sounds.

WEEK 3

TOPIC: Local Instrument that Produce Sounds

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVE:  Pupils should be able to: name local instrument that produce sounds.                                                                                                                                  

CONTENT: Local instruments that produce sounds e.g.

–              Paw-paw stalk

–              Bamboo stem etc.

TEACHER ACTIVITIES:

Guides pupils to name some local instrument that produce sounds.

PUPILS ACTIVITIES:

Name local musical instruments that make sounds.

TEACHING AND LEARNING RESOURCE:

1.            Bamboo stem.

2.            Paw-Paw stalk

3.            Knife

4.            String.

EVALUATION GUIDE: Pupils to: mention some local instruments that produce sound.

WEEK 4

TOPIC: Gathering and Cutting of Local Instrument

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVE: Pupils should be able to:

1.gather the instruments.

2.cut the instruments to the shape.                                                                       

CONTENT: Gathering and cutting of local instrument

TEACHER ACTIVITIES:

1.Leads pupils to collect materials

2.Guides pupils to cut into shapes.

PUPILS ACTIVITIES: Gather the materials and cut into shapes.

TEACHING AND LEARNING RESOURCE:

1.Cutlass

2.Knife.

EVALUATION GUIDE:Pupils to: gather the instrument.

TOPIC: Making of Local Instrument

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVE: Pupils should be able to:

make local instrument that produce sounds.

PUPILS ACTIVITIES: Participates in the making of the maracas.

TEACHING AND LEARNING RESOURCE:

1.Calabash.

2.Beads.

3.Thread.

EVALUATION GUIDE: Pupils to: make the neck of the maracas.

WEEK 7

TOPIC: Making of Maracas II

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVE: Pupils should be able to: put the beads to decorate the maracas. 

CONTENT: Making of maracas.

TEACHER ACTIVITIES: Guides pupils to make maracas.

PUPILS ACTIVITIES: Participates in the making of the maracas.

TEACHING AND LEARNING RESOURCE:

1.Calabash.

EVALUATION GUIDE: Pupils to: decorate the maracas with beads.

WEEK 8

TOPIC: Making Of Maracas III

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVE:Pupils should be able to: end the maracas decoration successfully.

PUPILS ACTIVITIES: Participates in the making of maracas
